Aquitania wins Belmont's Marta Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) -- Aquitania and jockey Ramon Dominguez splashed through the slop on Wednesday to a 3 1/4 length victory over Belle of the Hall in the $80,750 Marta Stakes for fillies and mares at Belmont Park.
Trained in Maryland by Hamilton Smith, Aquitania earned her seventh win in 13 starts. The 4-year-old ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.73.
Aquitania paid $5.50 and $3.70. Belle of the Hall returned $5.10, with My Sunshine Gal third. There was no show wagering.
Her Smile, the 3-5 favorite, was the distant trailer in the four-horse field.
