PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Four men are suing the Boy Scouts of America, alleging they were sexually abused in the 1970s when they were between the ages of 12 and 15 by an Oregon Scouts leader.

The former Scouts say in a lawsuit filed Wednesday that an Oregon branch of the Scouts was informed that a child had alleged sexual abuse against Steven T. Hill in California, but did nothing to stop him from overseeing Scouts in Oregon.

The suit alleges Hill abused a Scout in California in 1975. The allegation was brought to the Scouts, local police and the U.S. Navy, where the suit suggests Hill was enlisted.

The Scouts responded that they took steps to keep Hill out of the Scouts, including filing a lawsuit against him.
