COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Columbus Crew will face Stoke City of the English Premier League in an exhibition game July 24 at Crew Stadium.

Stoke City, one of the oldest professional soccer teams in the world, is the fifth Premier League team to set a U.S. exhibition date. Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Aston Villa also have games scheduled.

Columbus is 9-4-2 in international exhibitions, including 2-3-2 against teams from the Premier League. Its last win came in 2005 against Fulham.

In 1967 during the United Soccer Association’s only season before merging into the NASL, Stoke City players represented Cleveland as the Cleveland Stokers.
