SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A man protesting logging on Oregon state forests climbed up a flagpole Thursday at the Capitol in Salem, and climbed down 90 minutes later to go to jail.
The Cascadia Forest Defenders says it’s protesting against the logging as a way to fund public schools. The Salem Statesman Journal said (http://stjr.nl/Jgf3xl ) the climber held a banner reading, “School vs. trees? We want both.”
The State Police said 23-year-old Perry Thompson Graham of Eugene was booked on charges of disorderly conduct, trespassing, and criminal mischief.
