Mitcham misses cut at US Diving Grand Prix

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Matthew Mitcham of Australia, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist in the 10-meter platform, missed the cut for the U.S. Diving Grand Prix at the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Center on Thursday.

Mitcham, who scored a 440.95, came in fourth out of six in the second semifinal. Only three divers from each semifinal advanced to Saturday’s final.

Americans Thomas Finchum and Christina Loukas dove their way into the finals. Finchum scored a 466.95 in the men’s 10-meter platform and Loukas scored a 345.75 to reach the women’s 3-meter springboard finals.
