Cubs’ Marmol removed with undisclosed injury

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Chicago Cubs reliever Carlos Marmol left the game against the Milwaukee Brewers with two outs in the seventh inning Friday night with an undisclosed injury.

Marmol, who lost his job as the Cubs’ closer last week, had given up a run on a hit and a walk in two-thirds of an inning. He had a 1-2 count on Corey Hart when catcher Wellington Castillo visited the mound and summoned manager Dale Sveum.

Marmol threw two practice pitches and was removed for Michael Bowden.

In 14 games before Friday night, Marmol was 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA.
