Letter: National Park properties decaying

I have recently returned from a trip that included Yellowstone National Park. The beauty of the park and the historical nature of the infrastructure represented almost a religious experience to me.

The fronts of the buildings were mostly adequately painted and taken care of but this was a facade as the sides and back were decaying and peeling paint. The manner of which the hotel and restaurant concessionaires were running these properties into the ground is not in keeping with the national heritage and historical values represented by these properties.

National Parks staff point to the concessionaires and the concessionaires point their fingers at the Parks staff and Congress. I wish some congressional person would resolve this before these structures are beyond repair.

The Yellowstone National Parks experience for this and future generations is on the line.
