Woman who took gunshot victim to hospital arrested

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A Rogue River woman who drove a gunshot victim to a hospital has been arrested and accused of lying about the incident.

Police say three people were involved in an illegal transaction involving stolen guns when one of the weapons accidentally fired in early April. It injured 22-year-old Derek Scheller of Grants Pass.

Thirty-two-year-old Carrie Bartlett called 911 to report that she was taking a gunshot victim the hospital before Scheller was admitted. Bartlett was arrested Thursday for investigation of theft, tampering with a witness, tampering with evidence, hindering prosecution and methamphetamine possession.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/IW83I9 ) that Bartlett has pleaded not guilty to meth charges.
