Angels OF Hunter out after report of son's arrest
Monday, May 14, 2012
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Torii Hunter has been placed on the Los Angeles Angels' restricted list amid reports his teenage son has been arrested in Texas.
The town of Prosper, Texas, issued a news release Monday announcing 17-year-old Darius McClinton-Hunter of neighboring McKinney, Texas, was arrested Monday in a sexual assault case. The release said Prosper police made five arrests after a monthlong investigation.
Police in Prosper didn't immediately respond to messages left Monday evening by The Associated Press seeking information on the case and confirmation that the arrested person is the veteran outfielder's son, as reported by several Dallas-area news outlets.
Hunter's family lives in Prosper, a suburb north of Dallas.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia confirmed Hunter had left the team, only saying it was for "a personal matter."
