Letter: Obama takes cover with social issue

Headlines and controversy for today -- our president’s support of same-sex marriage. He is clever and shrewd, I’ll give you that. He does not want the electorate focused on his policies and reports that things are not going as he planned, he has a campaign to win come November.
Knowing people will be divided passionately on this issue he lent his support. He is more than glad the 24-hour news cycle will now talk and report on this and little else.
To redefine marriage is to directly assault the authority and truth of God. Woe to any of us who has a hand in dishonoring God through our own ideas of what marriage is about. Marriage was instituted by God in a family; one man-one woman, before there were cities, countries, nations, churches.
Even though we laud how we as people have evolved and had our minds changed about same-sex marriage, I can assure you God’s design and purpose, which I won’t enumerate now, has in no way changed -- unlike our president who has decided for political gain to shirk God’s authority and design for marriage.
