EAGLE POINT, Ore. (AP) — The Eagle Point School District says an agreement has been reached with striking employees.

The district says schools are closed Wednesday and will resume Thursday with regular teachers. Schools opened this week with substitutes.

The Eagle Point Education Association began the strike May 7. Classes were canceled last week.

The district near Medford has 328 employees, including 186 teachers, and a total of about 4,100 students.

The two-year agreement still needs final approval from the school board and union.

The district says the agreement keeps teacher preparation time at current levels and increases contributions to health insurance coverage. The district agrees not to subcontract transportation services while the issue is under study.
