Sherry Erickson, an engineer and business manager for Erickson Structural Consulting Engineers in Vancouver, said Tuesday she will run for the District 1 position on the Clark Public Utilities Board of Commissioners. In a news release, Erickson said she’s pursuing the position “to combine my educational and vocational skills to advocate for reliable and affordable utility distribution.”

Erickson has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in business from Washington State University.

The utility’s District 1 seat represents north Clark County on the utility’s three-member board. Commissioners, who serve six-year terms in paid, part-time positions, set utility policy, approve annual budgets, decide electric and water rates, and select the utility’s CEO.
