OREM, Utah (AP) — Utah Valley University’s 32-game winning streak, tied for the fourth-longest in NCAA Division I history, was stopped in an 11-10 loss to Utah on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines (39-12) trailed by four runs entering the bottom of the ninth, but fell just short of extending their streak — leaving the potential tying and winning runs on base to end it. Utah Valley matched the streaks by the 1972 Arizona State and 1988 Fresno State teams. Florida Atlantic (1999) and Texas (1977) share the Division I record with 34-game winning streaks.

Utah Valley led 7-1 after three innings, but Utah (14-35) took an 8-7 lead in the sixth. After the Utes added three more in the ninth, the Wolverines nearly pulled off the comeback with three runs of their own.
