Vancouver police launch new online crime map

Vancouver police on Monday announced the launch of an updated interactive crime map on the department's homepage, www.vanpolice.org.
The new map, by crimereports.org, lets people sort crime by time and type. Users can also sign up to receive alerts when crimes occur in a specific area.
Data is uploaded from police reports daily, according to a police media release.
The map can also be viewed on an iPhone via the crimereports.org iOS application.
