WA fire crew responds to report of dog on roof
Tuesday, May 15, 2012
LUMMI ISLAND, Wash. (AP) -- The 911 caller said she had a large dog stuck on the roof of a geodesic dome-style house on northwest Washington's Lummi Island and she couldn't persuade it to come down. So seven firefighters responded.
District 11 Fire Chief Duncan McLane tells the Bellingham Herald (http://is.gd/jR8Lev) the woman explained Tuesday that she was afraid of heights and couldn't help the dog, so she called the fire department.
McLane says the fire engine arrived at about the same time as the woman's husband, who said he could rescue the pet himself.
The roof was about 10 feet high and the fire chief wasn't sure how the dog got up there.
He says the dog-on-the-roof call was a first for his department.
Lummi Island is in the San Juan island chain.
