Seven more candidates file for elective office

An additional seven candidates have filed with the Clark County Elections Department, according to an updated list released at 4:36 p.m. Wednesday.

State Rep. Tim Probst, a Democrat, and Republican State Sen. Don Benton filed to run for the state Senate from the 17th Legislative District and Republican State Rep. Paul Harris filed to keep his seat in the 17th Legislative District.

In the 49th Legislative District, Republican Eileen Qutub filed to run for state Senate and Carolyn Crain filed to run for state representative, Position 2. Clark County Commissioner Tom Mielke filed for re-election in District 1, and Democrat Roman Battan filed for Clark County commissioner, District 2.

The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Friday. A complete list of candidates will be in Saturday’s Columbian.
