All star concert to benefit OHSU, local cancer patient

Classic rock band The Magic Carpet Ride will give a benefit concert for adult cancer patients.

The benefit show, which is open to those 21 years and older, begins at 9 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at Malibu’s, 115 E. Seventh St., in downtown Vancouver. Admission is $15.

Proceeds from the event, “A Big Wish,” will benefit the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and Vancouver resident Dustin Hughes, who has glioblastoma multiforme brain tumors.

The band includes former members of Steppenwolf, who will perform the band’s greatest hits. They will be joined by Xperience, a Jimi Hendrix tribute band with RG Valentino on guitar. Other special guests, including Dan Crenshaw of Garden of Eden and Shawn Sonnenschein of Black N Blue.

The event will also include an auction with a signed Fender guitar and more.
