Letter: System should benefit patients first
Friday, May 18, 2012
In response to the May 15 Columbian online story “PeaceHealth appeals state approval of hospice center,” hopefully, this new facility will accept the insurance plans that PeaceHealth has rejected and are now out-of-network. You can’t expect to be a monopoly unless you serve everyone equally. It might be that “there aren’t enough patients who qualify for inpatient care to keep two hospice centers financially afloat,” and PeaceHealth will be driven out of the market and end up in a business hospice center. That’s the way the system works. Get over it.
