TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Cruz Pedregon topped Funny Car qualifying with a track-record performance Friday in the NHRA Summernationals at Heartland Park Topeka.

Pedregon had a 4.046-second run at 315.56 mph in his Toyota Camry to better both ends of the Funny Car track record. Bob Tasca III was second at 4.062 and 315.56 in a Shelby Ford Mustang.

“We definitely have one of the quicker cars out there,” said Pedregon, a four-time winner at the track. “So, we just have to continue to do our job and not beat ourselves on Sunday.”

Antron Brown led the Top Fuel field, and Allen Johnson topped the Pro Stock class.

Brown had a run of 3.797 at 324.98, and Johnson finished at 6.618 and 207.85 in a Dodge Avenger.
