TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) — Talks between the Reynolds School District and teachers union continued overnight but there was no agreement by the 6 a.m. Monday strike deadline in a year-long contract dispute.
The Facebook page for the Reynolds Education Association says it’s officially on strike.
The union represents about 600 teachers in the east Portland suburb of Troutdale.
The district had already canceled classes for Monday because of the strike threat. The district has nearly 1,100 students. About three weeks of classes remain in the school year.
