Summer Breezing wins Belmont’s Tiller Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Summer Breezing, the 1-2 favorite, held off Margano by a half-length on Sunday in the $90,000 Tiller Stakes for 3-year-olds on the turf at Belmont Park.

Trained by Christophe Clement, Summer Breezing improved to 3 for 5. Jose Lezcano was aboard as they covered the seven furlongs in 1:20.72 over the firm course.

Margano, a full brother to 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, rallied from fifth to create a competitive finish.

Summer Breezing paid $3.10, $2.50 and $2.10. Margano returned $4.20 and $2.90, while Mr. Prankster paid $3.30 to show.
