2 Spokane officers injured arresting DUI suspect

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Spokane police say two officers suffered minor injuries in a fight with a driver suspected of driving under the influence.

Police say the driver fled Monday night, and his car was finally stopped with spike strips and a ramming maneuver.

The driver tried to run off, then turned and hit both officers on their heads. The suspect was still fighting with both officers when a sergeant arrived and stunned him with a Taser so he could be handcuffed.

Police say he was carrying $700, a bag of methamphetamine and numerous gift cards.

The officers were treated for minor injuries. The 46-year-old suspect also was treated then jailed for investigation of assault and other charges.
