I was extremely disappointed in the May 15 editorial cartoon that called President Obama’s support of gay marriage “flip-flopping.” It saddens me to see that grown men and women cannot look at the issues and formulate intelligent opinions. Instead these people jump to what is simple: name calling. I realize politics is dirty business, but if you are going to point out the shortcomings of one party, at least be able to see the same shortcomings in your own party.
In Mitt Romney’s 2002 governor’s race he released a flier that read, “All citizens deserve equal rights, regardless of their sexual preference.” How is Obama’s realization that he was on the wrong side of the issue “flip-flopping” but Romney’s change in stance not?
