Accused Portland officer resigns

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A veteran Portland police officer accused of a child sex crime resigned Tuesday.
Officer Scott Elliott has been on paid leave with police powers since his arrest in March.
He was accused of online sexual corruption of a child and luring. The 50-year-old is a 22-year veteran.
The Oregonian reported Elliott worked in sex offender registration and had worked as a weapons instructor.
