MOXEE, Wash. (AP) — The Yakima County, Wash., sheriff’s office says an animal lover managed to rescue a dog from the Roza Canal.
Deputy Scot Swallow said the unidentified Good Samaritan spotted the dog in the irrigation canal late Tuesday morning and followed it downstream for about a half mile to a point where he was able to rescue it.
Deputies say the young female black lab mix had a collar but no identifying tags.
Sheriff’s officers are trying to locate the dog’s owner.
The animal was taken to an animal shelter.
