Letter: Think about a tunnel, not a bridge

The Columbian
Published: May 21, 2012, 5:00pm

Nowhere in the title “Columbia River Crossing” does it say anything about a bridge. What about a tunnel instead? Advantages would include no restrictions on river or airplane traffic. No roadways towering over downtown Vancouver. Free up the area between downtown and the Fort. And, it might even cost less then a new bridge. Compared to large underwater tunnels all over the world, like BART under the San Francisco Bay, it seems like a relatively easy way to get a new Columbia River “crossing.”
