In a May 15 letter “Response is over the top,” Don Newell wrote that, with any luck, the Republicans will eliminate a list of problems come November. One of those was the cost of flying Air Force One at $181,000 per hour.
Should Mitt Romney be elected, how does Newell and other Republicans suggest reducing the cost of flying Air Force One? The president has no choice but to fly in it. If elected how will Romney fly? In his own personal jet or commercial coach class?
And where was all the Republican outrage when President George W. Bush flew round-trip on Air Force One from Crawford, Texas, to Washington, D.C., to sign the Terry Schiavo bill to have her feeding tube restored — something that could have waited until his return?
