Metro area business promoter hires new VP

Greater Portland Inc., the private sector-led business promoter of the Portland-Vancouver area, said Tuesday it has hired Derrick Olsen as vice president of regional strategy and coordination.

Olsen has more than 17 years of experience managing international trade, investment and political issues. Thirteen of those years were spent as a foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of State in Latin America, Asia and Washington, D.C.

In his new job, Olsen will lead the implementation of the Greater Portland Export Initiative, among other projects.
