The southbound span of the Interstate Bridge will close for three more nights beginning tonight while Oregon Department of Transportation crews continue counterweight repairs.

“The problem we’ve been having the last couple of weeks has not yet been repaired,” said Don Hamilton, ODOT spokesman. “The counterweight can only be lifted at a very slow speed.”

The span closes at 11 p.m. each of the three nights. It will reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday and Friday and by 7 a.m. Saturday.

Southbound traffic can take state Highway 14 east to Interstate 205 and cross into Oregon on the Glenn Jackson Bridge.

“This may not be the last of the closures,” Hamilton said.
