KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee has suspended sophomore tight end Cameron Clear indefinitely following his arrest on a felony theft charge.
Jimmy Stanton, Tennessee's associate athletic director for communications, announced the suspension Wednesday and said university officials are continuing to gather information.
Jail records show that the 19-year-old sophomore from Memphis was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of theft of more than $1,000, and records posted online by the Knox County Sheriff's Department said bail was set at $2,500.
The 6-foot-6, 283-pound Clear entered the spring No. 2 on the depth chart behind senior Mychal Rivera, despite catching only one pass last year. He was one of Tennessee's top recruits in 2011.
