Body of girl, 17, found at Renton house fire

RENTON, Wash. (AP) -- Firefighters who put out a fire Friday morning at a Renton home found the body of a teenage girl inside.

Deputy Chief Erik Wallgren says she was the only person in the house. Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.

Police are investigating.

Spokeswoman Terri Vickers says the death is suspicious because of injuries to the 17-year-old girl who was a student at nearby Lindbergh High School.

Vickers says police are looking for a car that may be associated with the crime, a 2001 green Mazda Protege, license 077-YRD.

Vickers says the fire appears to be arson.

Wallgren says the fire was reported just before 8 a.m. with smoke coming from the second floor of the two-story home.

He says firefighters rescued a dog they found inside the house.
