Ex-boyfriend sought in death of Renton teen

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Police are looking for the ex-boyfriend of a 17-year-old girl found dead in a Renton home that had been set on fire.

Jarod Lane is described as a person of interest. Police also are looking for an associated car — a 2001 green Mazda Protege, license 077-YRD. It was reportedly seen in North Bend.

Police spokeswoman Terri Vickers says the death is suspicious because of injuries to the girl who was a student at nearby Lindbergh High School. Vickers says the fire appears to be arson.

Deputy Fire Chief Erik Wallgren says firefighters found the body when they put out a couch fire Friday morning. The fire was reported just before 8 a.m. with smoke coming from the second floor of the two-story home.
