PASCO, Wash. (AP) — The state attorney general’s office has charged an ex-Franklin County official with theft, money laundering and possessing cocaine.
KONA reports the charges filed Friday against Dennis M. Huston accuse him of stealing $1.7 million from the county.
The 65-year-old is the former director of accounting and administration for the Public Works Department. Huston was fired and has been out of jail during the state investigation.
The Tri-City Herald reports (http://is.gd/7F0Aqb ) court documents say he was suspected of embezzling $2.8 million through false invoices. It’s unclear why the charge Friday is for less.
Huston is scheduled to be arraigned June 12 in Franklin County Superior Court.
