BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials in southwestern Idaho say rescuers on Sunday morning reached three survivors of a small airplane crash and are working to evacuate them from a remote area in Owyhee County.

Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher Bev White says emergency medical responders reached the crash site after landing in helicopters and then hiking in.

She says an Air National Guard helicopter with a hoist has been called to evacuate two females and the male pilot. Their ages, hometowns or extent of their injuries weren’t available. The plane was traveling from Rome, Ore., to Mountain Home, Idaho.

White says someone in the plane reported the crash on a cellphone shortly after midnight. She says the first rescuers to arrive wrapped the survivors in blankets and built fires to keep them warm.
