KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Soony Saad scored twice in a four-minute span in the second half, and Sporting Kansas City held on for a 3-2 victory over short-handed Orlando City SC on Tuesday night in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup.

Saad put Sporting up 2-1 in the 65th, then made it 3-1 in the 69th. Paulo Nagamura also scored in first-half stoppage time for Sporting.

Orlando City, which plays in the third-tier USL Pro league, got goals from Kevin Molino in the 55th minute and Dennis Chin in the 84th. The Lions had to play a man down after Anthony Pulis drew a straight red card in the 70th minute for throwing an elbow at Sporting’s Lawrence Olum.

Sporting will host the Colorado Rapids on June 5 in the fourth round.
