TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) — The Reynolds School Board approved a new teachers’ contract that was agreed upon after a five-day strike.
The Oregonian reports ( http://is.gd/cLqCTj ) the approval Wednesday was reluctant with several members dismayed by what they called the strong-arm tactics of the Reynolds Education Association.
The three-year contract includes cost-of-living and step-pay raises and increased health insurance. The teachers union approved the contract by 98 percent.
The Reynolds district east of Portland has 11,000 students.
