Seton girls' basketball coach named Coach of the Year

Evergreen Highlands: Northwest Ford Coach of the Year Phil Kent and Blaze, the mascot of the Portland Trail Blazers, hold a $2,500 check for Seton Catholic High Schools' girls' basketball program.

Evergreen Highlands -- Phil Kent was named Northwest Ford Coach of the Year by the Portland Trail Blazers and local Northwest Ford stores at a May 17 award ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic School in Vancouver. Kent was presented with a $2,500 check, which he is designating for the Seton Catholic High School girls' basketball program. The award is presented to an individual who leads, inspires and motivates youth both on and off the court. As the athletic director for the Catholic Youth Organization sports program at St. Joseph Catholic School, Kent directs the largest CYO sports program in Southwest Washington. He also coaches the girls' varsity basketball team at Seton Catholic High School.
