MAX train nearly hits pedestrian in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- TriMet is reminding pedestrians to watch out for MAX trains, after a close call Tuesday at the Gateway Transit Center in Portland.

The light rail train operator deployed the emergency brake to avoid hitting a man using a walker in a crosswalk.

The Oregonian also reports (http://is.gd/5WH2pV) a witness jumped off his bike to push the man out of the way.
