TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The hype surrounding Arizona State point guard Jahii Carson reached almost preposterous proportions.

After a year of waiting, the Sun Devils finally get a chance to see if he can live up to it.

One of the most highly touted recruits ever at Arizona State, Carson had to sit out last season after being declared academically ineligible.

The waiting only added to anticipation for his arrival, with views of his YouTube highlight video ballooning to nearly a half million and his Twitter followers to over 6,000.

The dynamic sophomore will be joined by Liberty transfer Evan Gordon, the younger brother of NBA player Eric, in what should be one of the nation’s best backcourts.
