INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts are hoping to have coach Chuck Pagano back on the sideline for their regular-season finale Dec. 30.

Interim coach Bruce Arians made the announcement Monday, one day after Pagano spoke to his players before and after their 23-20 victory over Miami.

Arians has been running the Colts (5-3) since Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia Sept. 26. Pagano remained hospitalized until Oct. 21 as doctors treated him with chemotherapy. He has been resting at home since then.

Sunday marked the first time he was allowed to return to Lucas Oil Stadium.

Arians says Pagano’s white blood-cell count was high enough Monday that he could return to the team complex. Pagano is expected to begin a second round of treatment later this week.
