Fields, Green lead TCU over Cal Poly 53-46

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Amric Fields scored a game-high 16 points, and Garlon Green brought down seven rebounds, as TCU overcame a slow start to beat Cal Poly 53-46 on Friday night and give Trent Johnson his first career win with the Horned Frogs.

Green made a pair of free throws with 17:54 left to put TCU up 24-23. He had 10 points in the game.

TCU trailed the Mustangs 21-10 at halftime. Cal Poly held TCU to just one field goal over the first 12 minutes of the season opener.

Then, Fields responded with a dunk for his second basket, which was followed by a three-pointer from Nate Butler Lind and a pair of jumpers by Green.

Kyan Anderson made three 3-pointers in the second half to finish with 11 points for the Frogs.

Brian Bennett led the Mustangs with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Cal Poly shot 35 percent from the field.
