Four teens are suspected of starting a fire at an abandoned nursing home earlier this month in Battle Ground, according to the Battle Ground Police Department.

Just before 5 p.m. on Nov. 4 Battle Ground police and Clark County Fire & Rescue responded to a mattress fire inside the abandoned building at 103. N. Parkway Ave. There was no damage to the building or injuries reported, according to city spokeswoman Bonnie Gilberti.

Police identified three girls and one boy, all 14-year-old residents of Battle Ground, as suspects based on tips from the community, Gilberti said. Names are not available because of the age of the suspects.

The investigation will be sent to the Clark County Prosecutors Office requesting trespassing and reckless burning charges.
