Talking Points: Death stare

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Kobe Bryant apparently gave his coach the “death stare” after the Lakers lost to Utah the other night. Teammate Dwight Howard told reporters that while losing is frustrating, Bryant needs to keep his emotions from going public.

Yeah, that should go over real well.

The new guy on the team, the guy who has never won a title, and the guy who publicly feuded with his own coach and franchise the past two seasons, telling Kobe Bryant to relax.

We expect a “death stare” to be heading in the direction of Howard any day now.

After the election this week, we decided to have a fair and balanced Talking Point, with sporting references in regard to the presidential race.

Republicans: So, since President Obama’s inauguration, the St. Louis Rams have won an NFL-worst 13 games. Of course, after Tuesday, that means the Rams are certain to win the Super Bowl this season. Worst record wins the biggest prize, right?

Democrats: Scoreboard! Scoreboard! Scoreboard!

Last year, there was a college basketball game on the deck of an aircraft carrier. Same thing is happening this year, when the Ohio State and Notre Dame women and the Ohio State and Marquette men play Friday on the deck of the USS Yorktown.

However, call us McKayla Maroney. We are not impressed.

Want to impress us?

Play the game, on the flight deck, while the ship is moving at top speed.

Heck, maybe bring in some helicopters and land them near the court. See if the players can handle that scene.
