BOSTON (AP) — Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly won’t talk to his team this week about Boston College’s history as a spoiler.

Kelly doesn’t like to dwell on history, even at one of the most historic programs in college football.

The fourth-ranked Fighting Irish play at BC on Saturday night. The Eagles are 2-7 with little to play for except the chance to spoil the season for the only other Catholic school playing in the FBS.

Twice Notre Dame has seen its national championship hopes spoiled by Boston College.

In 1993, 17th-ranked BC beat the top-seeded Irish 41-39 on a field goal from David Gordon as time expired. And 10 years ago Notre Dame was No. 4 when the Eagles won 14-7 to hand the Irish their first loss.
