Fordham’s Koonce runs over Lafayette 36-27

BRONX, N.Y. (AP) — Carlton Koonce rushed for 189 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown, Ryan Higgins passed for two scores, and Fordham came back from a 10-point first-quarter deficit to defeat Lafayette 36-27 on Saturday afternoon.

Brian Wetzel caught three passes for 100 yards and two TDs, including an 89-yard scoring grab in the second quarter for the Rams (6-4, 3-2 Pagriot League). They scored 14 third-quarter points to take the lead for good.

Zach Zweizig threw for 285 yards and a touchdown for the Leopards (5-5, 2-2), but he also was intercepted three times. The last one was returned 69 yards for a touchdown by Jordan Chapman that gave the Rams a 31-20 lead.

Zweizig was replaced by Andrew Shoop, who was 6-of-9 passing for 85 yards and a TD. Lafayette’s Mark Ross caught 10 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown, and Mike Duncan caught five passes for 124 yards.
