Maldunas leads Dartmouth past Maine 67-54

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Gabas Maldunas had a career-high 25 points and nine rebounds and Dartmouth pulled away from Maine early in the second half to take a 67-54 win in the season opener for both teams.

The Big Green trailed by five before closing the first half on a 9-3 run to lead 28-26 at the break.

Dartmouth opened the second half with a 12-2 run en route to its first season-opening win in eight years.

The Black Bears answered with a 7-0 spurt, but could get no closer than five the rest of the way.

Dartmouth’s 15 players have a total of 11 years of experience (0.73 years on average), which in Division I trails only Cal State Northridge, which has 17 players with 11 years (0.65).

John Golden added 13 points and Alex Mitola chipped in 12.

Mike Allison had 17 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Black Bears.
