ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have activated cornerback Ron Bartell from short-term injured reserve and promoted running back Jeremy Stewart from the practice squad.

To make room on the 53-man roster the Raiders waived cornerback Pat Lee on Saturday and placed cornerback Shawntae Spencer on season-ending injured reserve.

Bartell had been out since breaking his left shoulder blade in the season opener. Lee took his place in the starting lineup the past seven games but was cut when Bartell returned for Sunday’s game in Baltimore.

Stewart provides insurance at running back with starter Darren McFadden and backup Mike Goodson out with sprained right ankles.

Spencer has been out since week 2 with a sprained right foot that didn’t heal as quickly as hoped.
