Steelers WR Sanders to appeal fine for fake injury
Saturday, November 10, 2012
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will appeal the $15,000 fine he received after NFL officials ruled he faked an injury earlier in the season.
The league also fined the organization $35,000 on Friday after Sanders went down with what he called a cramp in the fourth quarter of a 24-17 win over Cincinnati on Oct. 21. Sanders fell suddenly, clutching his leg but returned to the game after missing just one play.
Sanders met with NFL officials last week and says they gave no indication he would be disciplined. The third-year wide receiver added he's eager to get the situation behind him. He will start in place of injured Antonio Brown on Monday night when the Steelers (5-3) face the Kansas City Chiefs (1-7).
