A 25-year-old Kelso man escaped serious injury after his car veered off Interstate 5 near La Center and rolled several times, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Trooper Steve Robley said Inory Kan of Kelso was northbound in the right lane when he lost control of his 2003 Ford Explorer and sideswiped a car.

The accident happened at 5:06 p.m. Sunday. The Explorer was totaled.

The mishap caused some damage to the 1992 Mitsubishi driven by Daniel Alvarado, 51, of Woodburn, Ore. Alvarado was unhurt and able to drive away, Robley said.

Kan was treated and released at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, Robley said.

Robley said alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Kan was not cited but a report was sent to the Clark County prosecutor’s office, Robley said.
