Cal State Northridge tops Eastern Washington 96-79

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) — Stephen Maxwell had 21 points and 10 rebounds Monday night to lead Cal State Northridge past Eastern Washington 96-79.

Brandon Perry had 19 points and 12 rebounds off the bench for the Matadors (2-0). Allen Guei added 10 points and five steals, and Josh Greene had 13 assists for Northridge.

Martin Seiferth led all players with 27 points and 17 rebounds, and had seven blocked shots for Eastern Washington (0-2). Justin Crosgile had 18 points and seven assists for the Eagles, and Venky Jois scored 12 points.

Northridge never trailed Monday, but only led 36-32 at halftime and Eastern Washington came within two points early in the second half before the Matadors put the game away.

The Matadors beat Pepperdine Friday night in their season opener. The Eagles dropped their opening game at Washington State.
